How To Hang New Cabinet Doors on Existing Cabinets
In this video, we walk you through how to hang cabinet doors on your existing cabinet boxes using a straightedge, ensuring all doors are properly aligned before attaching the cabinet door. The entire process is relatively straightforward and doesn't require professional assistance. Learning how to hang cabinet doors by yourself also offers cost-saving benefits.
Before hanging the cabinet doors, place the hinges and mounting plates on the new cabinet doors. You'll need to ensure the hinges and mounting plates are in the right spot on every door. If you're unsure how to do this, watch our video on measuring cabinet door openings and installing hinges.
Once you've confirmed these are mounted in the right place, you can mount the cabinet doors onto your existing cabinets. The first step is to attach a straightedge or draw a line below the cabinet opening.
For ½-inch overlay doors, this line will be ½-inch below the opening. For overlays other than ½-inch, the line will be located below the opening of the specific overlay.
